What these sugar recovery stories reveal about cravings, peace, and the path back to carnivore
Have you ever thought, “Maybe I can handle just a little fruit or a sweet treat now and then?” Before you test those waters, I urge you to watch these three honest and raw sugar recovery stories. In this powerful new episode of My Zero Carb Life, I sit down with Jenny, Courtney, and Serena—three women who bravely stepped outside the carnivore framework… and paid the price.
These seasoned carnivores (we’re talking two to four years of meat-only living!) share how curiosity led them to experiment with sugar, fruit, and other carbs, all under the influence of social media trends promising energy, weight loss, and hormone balance. But what they found was heartbreakingly familiar: the return of anxiety, weight gain, and most painfully, food obsession.
Each of their sugar recovery stories is unique—but all end in the same place: deep appreciation for the peace and freedom that carnivore had given them. And don’t worry, this video isn’t all about the struggle. It’s also about recovery—how fat fasting, community support, and honesty helped them find their way back.

Feeling seen? Struggling with the same cycle?

Kelly! Oh my goodness… I hardly know what to write. These women are precious and I’m heartbroken for their pain. At the same time I’m thankful they have shared, because I know their stories will help so many not go down the “sugar plumb/candy land” road. I had not heard of the “sugar diet” until very recently when it was briefly talked about in group. (I think?) Insert of big hug here! Thank you for all you do.
So grateful for you, Coach Katy! THANKS for watching and taking time to leave a note. //jdh
Thanks for posting this! Courtney, I’ve benefited so much from your book and videos. I know you’re confused right now, but could it be that it’s the sugar and carbs that are in your system that are the authors of your confusion right now? Remember when you started carnivore how hard it was? Then, once you got through it, how effortless it became? Maybe there’s no way around the hard part only through. Anyway, very grateful for you and hope you’ll stay the course.
Thank you so much for sharing this video! I can relate to each one of you! Just the name “sugar diet” is enough for me to say never gonna happen! Interesting to hear how the lizard brain comes back! That is exactly what happens to me when I taste even a little bit of carbs/sugar! Kelly you have helped me so much on this journey and have given me the tools to be successful! Thank you! 💖
LOVE hearing that! Thanks for taking time to share this, Heidi!! //jdh
I just found your channel, Kelly, and this was my first show I watched. WOW is all that I felt!! Oh, the honesty of these ladies sharing from their heart & experiences… I had tears in my eyes from the depth of their honesty!! I can relate to so many of their life experiences, but have always been too embarrassed be that open with my struggles & not being able to be “perfect”… Thank-you, thank-you for sharing everyone!! And I can’t wait to find out more about the fat-fast!
This video was healing for my heart and mind, thank you all.
After allowing myself to get derailed, hearing these women’s honesty and experiences validates so much of what I have also experienced. I know what it is like to want back on Carnivore and I cannot get there. I will be praying for you, Courtney.
Kelly, thank you for “staying the course”. You are like Daniel. So many
of the patriarchs got derailed, but Daniel did not from what I understand. I am so thankful to be a part of this community and especially to
be blessed with your prayers.
