I flew to New Jersey yesterday to eat meat with more than 125 Carnivores at Dr. Lisa Wiedeman’s third annual Northeast Meat-Up.  I’ve been to many meat-ups through the years, and it’s always inspiring to hear stories of healing and to finally hug the necks of dear friends I’ve mostly known online. I was able to meet many group members yesterday, and it felt like we’ve known each other forever!

These interactions are priceless, in part, because of our mirror neurons, which are a class of neurons that activate and cause us to emulate other thriving humans, especially if it’s people that we respect and trust.  Those neurons fire, and we find ourselves emulating the people around us.  When we see other people making the choices that we want for ourselves, our brains get excited to join in! (So choose your people wisely, right? That’s the power of having a tribe.

If you feel lonely in your health journey or think you could benefit from group support through weekly meetings that include research-backed interventions, real-life inspiration, and discussions on macros, sugar addiction, emotional eating, and troubleshooting weight-loss stalls, I’d love to see you there!

  1. It’s so ironic this showed up in my feed today, because I have gained so much benefits from eliminating sugar, grains, seed oils , high processed carbs from my diet and friends and family have noticed and yet they say can’t you have this or that, and I m tired of saying yes I can have it if I want it, but I don’t want it. I look forward to my one or two meals of 4 1/4 pounder hamburger patties and steak, and I’m full and don’t want ice cream or doughnuts for dessert. Losing my patience today with people who need help, any thoughts?

    1. I think you’re spot on–focus on knowing you can have things if you want, but that it’s so much better for you to not have them. (You can eat glue if you want! Nobody goes around saying, “Well I guess you can’t eat glue!”) Keep the energy and focus on YOU and on staying healthy. Let the negative people fade away in the wake of your awesomeness.
