Let’s get you through the meat sweats.

If you’ve hit day 10 on your carnivore journey and suddenly can’t stand the thought of another bite of meat, rest easy. You’re not the first person to feel this way! In this week’s episode, I dive into the frustrating (but common) phase known as meat aversion—what it is, why it happens, and most importantly, how to get through it without giving up.

Whether you’re facing full-on “meat ick,” some palate fatigue, or just low-key dread at dinnertime, this is your reminder: you are not broken. Your body is adjusting, and this dip is temporary.

Why Meat Suddenly Feels Unappetizing

It often comes down to low stomach acid from years of high-carb, plant-heavy eating—and our bodies need time to relearn how to digest real food. Add in stress, cravings, or emotional overwhelm, and suddenly that ribeye just doesn’t hit right.

What You Can Do

  • Chew more, sip less. Help your digestion by slowing down and skipping the big gulps of water during meals.
  • Add variety—without adding junk. Soft eggs, crispy chicken wings, bacon, and carnivore ice cream are all on the table.
  • Use seasoning if needed. Mustard, mayo, Tabasco—whatever makes it easier to get in real food without triggering cravings.
  • Tend to your real hunger. If plain meat doesn’t sound good, ask yourself: am I truly hungry… or just stressed, tired, lonely, or bored?
  • Remember: This too shall pass. Most meat aversions fade within 4–7 days if you stay the course.
