If you’ve ever felt discouraged because the scale stopped moving—even while eating meat and doing “everything right”—this episode is for you.

Today, I’m sharing my personal story with weight loss, the science behind stalls, and what real research says about breaking through a plateau without wrecking your metabolism or your mindset.

Because here’s the truth: stalls are normal. They’re biological. And they do not mean you’re broken.

I Came for Weight Loss… But Stayed for Healing

Many people start eating this way to fix autoimmune disease, joint pain, digestive issues, or mental health struggles. For me, it was boils, acne, painful periods—and yes, 130 extra pounds.

Weight loss mattered deeply to me. I know what it feels like to want freedom from your body and from constant food thoughts. And while carnivore brought me incredible healing, I’ve also lived through long, frustrating plateaus.

Including one that lasted nearly two years.

So let’s talk about what’s really happening when progress slows down.

What the Research Says About Stalls

A recent review of 37 weight loss studies confirmed something important: your metabolism adapts.

If you chronically undereat, over-fast, over-exercise, or avoid fat for too long, your body becomes more energy efficient. That sounds nice—but it can make fat loss harder.

Sometimes the answer isn’t to eat less.

Sometimes the answer is a diet break, a slow reverse diet, rebuilding muscle, restoring hormones, and helping your body feel safe again.

The research also highlighted:

  • As you lose fat, hunger hormones increase.
  • Smaller bodies require slightly less fuel.
  • Daily movement often decreases without us noticing.
  • Set points feel real—but they are not permanent.

And here’s something I love: community support, behavior tracking, and coaching were all recommended as powerful tools for success.

The Scale Doesn’t Tell the Whole Story

During my own stalls, I built muscle. My inflammation decreased. My strength improved. My clothes got looser—even when the number didn’t change. Healing sometimes happens before visible fat loss.

If you’re stuck, don’t panic. Instead, get curious:

  • Are you under-eating?
  • Are you grazing instead of eating structured meals?
  • Has dairy crept back in?
  • Are you sleeping deeply?
  • Is your stress high?
  • Have you built muscle?

These questions move you forward. Panic keeps you stuck.

Plateaus Don’t Mean Failure

Plateaus are not proof that this way of eating doesn’t work. They are proof that your body is designed to survive.

Weight loss plateaus are not a sign that you’ve failed—they’re a normal part of the process. In this episode, I shared my own struggles with long stalls, what research reveals about metabolic adaptation and hunger hormones, and why eating less isn’t always the answer. Sometimes the breakthrough comes from nourishing your body more, building muscle, lowering stress, improving sleep, and letting your body feel safe enough to let go. If the scale has stopped moving, don’t panic. Get curious. Healing is often happening beneath the surface—and with the right strategy and support, progress is still absolutely possible.
