Dr. Ben Bikman shares what he’s learned about fat-loss

Dr. Benjamin Bikman is considered one of the top fat-loss experts, so when he speaks, I listen!

Dr. Benjamin Bikman is a metabolic scientist who spends his days in a research lab poring through health and diet research articles and studying petri dishes filled with fat cells. “Insulin is a hormone that affects every cell of the body,” says Dr. Bikman. “The drum I beat the loudest is that we need to know what our insulin numbers are. [Insulin resistance] is the single-most common health disorder in the world.”

A few months ago, I listened to an interview between Dr. Bikman and Dr. Latt Masor in which Dr. Bikman confirmed the importance of lowering the amount of fasting-insulin in our blood when it comes to improving our health and reducing our overall body fat. When I finished that episode, I was left with an excited feeling, as well as many questions, so I immediately invited Dr. Bikman to come on my channel. (Spoiler: He said yes. 😂)

We started the conversation with a softball question: What is insulin-resistance, and why is it so important to get our insulin under control? This is a topic that I’ve discussed on my channel in the past, but I was still glad to hear it from the insulin expert himself. But then I wanted to know why some people (especially older women) are doing EVERYTHING that I’ve ever heard recommended when it comes to fixing the insulin issue, and they STILL aren’t losing weight. He started with some skepticism, but then gave some possible problems as well as possible solutions.

I also asked Dr. Bikman about the cause for rising A1C numbers in the absence of carbs, the importance of ketones and whether or not we should be checking them, his thoughts on fat-fasting (which I LOVE!), and for any and all additional tips to help people who have already cut out carbs, but still aren’t losing unwanted body fat. He shared his thoughts as a scientist and researcher, and I shared my experiences in working with thousands of real-life Carnivores through the years.

Some of the questions in this interview were submitted by my group coaching members, and others were simply due to my own curiosity, but Dr. Bikman and I covered a lot of territory here.
