Oxalates and the Carnivore Journey: What You Need to Know
When many of us started eating a meat-based diet, we felt better almost immediately. For me, the boils disappeared right away, and I never had another episode of costochondritis. In the first month, I started losing weight and noticed improvements in my energy and overall health. But that’s not always the case for everyone.
If you’ve ever heard of Sally K. Norton, you might know about oxalates and the symptoms they can cause when we overload on these pesky molecules found in plants. Removing oxalates from the diet can often provide relief from symptoms, but here’s the tricky part: some new carnivores actually feel worse before they feel better. This can be pretty scary and might make you second-guess the switch to a meat-based diet. But trust me, it’s not a reason to quit, and there ARE solutions.
In this recent video, Sally shared some tips that I had never heard before, and I’m really excited to share these insights with you. Her advice can help ease the transition and manage those initial symptoms, making your carnivore journey smoother.
If you’re looking for support and guidance, I’d love to work with you in one of my coaching groups. Thank you for this video! I watched it this morning and was blown away by the timing of it (thank you, God). I have been carnivore for almost 2 years; last month I found out I have Hashimoto’s. Before the diagnosis, I had been feeling really down, but did not give up on carnivore. I just figured my “cheating” (I love Christmas sugar cookies) was the culprit. It WAS in the short-term, but then things did not go back to normal in January when I returned to zero carbs. Watching this video this morning made me go “WOW.” I could tell I was oxalate dumping, but not sure why it is happening now (suspected it was the thyroid med I started last month). But knowing the dumping is also causing my hip pain, back pain, etc. was so helpful! Please keep doing what you are doing and continue to connect us with people who KNOW SO MUCH. I love your videos – thank you for having fun. God Bless!
What a great comment, Sarah! Thanks for watching!!
