Overcoming the fear that comes with a meat-based diet
When I was in second grade, my grandfather died very suddenly of a massive heart attack. He was only 54 years old. My Pap-paw had been big, boisterous man who always had the loudest laugh in any room, and his loss left our family devastated.
Fast forward to when I was about 25 years old, when I started eating a meat-based (and eventually Carnivore) diet. There were plenty of people who warned that I would develop heart disease from eating only meat. Because heart disease had so strongly impacted my life already, I took those words quite seriously and had some deep-seated worries that this way of eating may not be best for me. Some dear friends and family members expressed that they were truly worried about my lack of vegetables and my high fat intake.
I was definitely feeling better, but could this way of eating really be safe or healthy?
This week, I sat down and talked to Audra Coleman about her experiences with sugar addiction, and she had some truly solid advice. But when she shared her recent CAC scan results after 2.5 years of Carnivore, my mind was blown! We discussed our own results and how very wrong the standard advice seems to be when it comes to cholesterol, meat, and “moderation.”
(By the way, I shared my own CAC scores and other results last year in this post.)
I hope the discussion is helpful, especially if you’re currently struggling with worries like I had in the beginning of my Carnivore journey. And if you would like to work with me, or if you have questions about things like CAC scores, let’s work together!
