Advice beyond “just go Carnivore”: Dr. Annette Bosworth

How Dr. Boz discovered the perfection of the humble sardine

The first patient that Dr. Annette Bosworth helped lead into a ketogenic diet was her own mother. She had recently discovered the health benefits of eating this way, and she was mad. Here was a diet that improved brain performance, helped seizure patients, and healed the sick, and she’d never heard of it before coming across it in her own research.

Dr. Boz’s mom lived in rural South Dakota, and one of the first things they did together was to clean out her mother’s pantry, tossing foods she shouldn’t eat anymore. One of the few things left?

Three cans of sardines.

The more Dr. Boz looked at those sardines, though, the more sense it made to use them as a building block of a new way of eating. They’ve got the right blend of fat and protein. They’re cheap, and you can find them just about anywhere, including where her mom lived. The portion size is perfect.

I’m so excited to share this inspiring chat with Dr. Boz—which, by the way, she joined while vacationing in Alaska, complete with interruptions from bald eagles! I had a ton of questions that I wanted to ask her, including several that I picked up from those of you who follow me on Instagram. I hope you enjoy learning from her as much as I did.
