Exploring the “insulin suppression” theory and what it might mean for long-term carnivores
If you’ve been on the carnivore train for a while, you might be hearing some buzz around a new term: insulin suppression theory. I’ve been deep in the trenches researching this one, and let me tell you—it’s got my wheels turning!
In this latest video, I’m sharing all the details about the insulin suppression theory—what it is, why Dr. Robert Cywes is talking about it, and how I tested it for myself using honey (yep, actual honey… hated it). My morning glucose was reading over 100, even after 15+ years of strict carnivore. But after just two small doses, I saw a dramatic shift back into the 70s. Coincidence? Or proof that insulin really can get too low?
I also share insights from experts like Dr. Westman and Dr. Baker, and what I’ve learned from watching others try everything from high-carb fruit diets to PSMF (high protein, low fat). Y’all, there is no one-size-fits-all. But if you’re seeing odd glucose numbers even with a zero-carb lifestyle, this theory might be worth exploring.
