Air fryer burgers are basically meat cookies, and you’re gonna love them.
I often hear two concerns from people thinking about switching to a carnivore diet: first, they’re not sure how to cook meat, especially if they don’t have an outdoor grill or barbecue. And second, they’re on a budget or fixed income, and they’re not sure they can afford to eat meat.
These are totally legitimate concerns! But rest assured, there are great solutions out there. One cheap, easy solution is to cook frozen burger patties in your air fryer! I love calling them meat cookies, and they can sustain you with scrumptious, meaty goodness every single day.
My favorite frozen burger patties come from Wal-Mart, and they’re pretty affordable. I put together a YouTube short on how I prepare them using my air fryer. The full description below will give you step-by-step instructions.
Ingredients
Directions
- Begin by preheating your air fryer to 400 degrees.
- Once the air fryer is preheated to 400 degrees, add the frozen burger patties to the drawer. Mine will fit up to four patties.
- You can choose to season your burger patties before you cook them or afterward. Redmond’s Real Salt and black pepper work well, and sometimes I’ll use a garlic and onion or an onion and smoked paprika blend.
- For a medium-rare burger (pink center), I cook mine for 7 minutes at 400 degrees. If you like your burgers cooked medium-well or well-done, simply increase your time. Note: cook times may vary from one air fryer to another. (I use the Instant Vortex.) You may want to experiment with a single patty first, gradually increasing time until you get what you want. Remember, you can’t un-cook an over-done burger.
- Enjoy! I sometimes top my burgers with a pat of butter, or you can cradle them in a Cloudies bun with some mayo and bacon. (Here’s a homemade mayo recipe!) But you don’t have to do either of those things–I thrived for years eating burger patties right off the plate.
As of the date of this publication, the 12-pack of frozen burgers comes out to about one dollar per patty. They each have 20g of protein and 23g of fat, so you’re getting 72 percent of your calories from fat. This is an affordable, simple to prepare way of eating carnivore well. ENJOY!
