carnivore crème brûlée

Leave the torch, take the crème brûlée!

What do the words “crème brûlée” make you think of? Something fancy? Something delicious? Well good news–you can make one of these delicious treats right at home and enjoy it with zero guilt!

This recipe for Carnivore Crème Brûlée is simple. It takes a little bit of time–but that’s good, because otherwise you’d spend your life savings on egg yolks and heavy cream. Of course, there are certainly worse ways to spend money.

Check out my YouTube short below for a guided tour of how I make mine. The full recipe is below.

Instructions:

Ingredients:

  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 cups, heavy whipping cream

Directions:

  1. Preheat an oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Whisk 4 egg yolks in a bowl or measuring cup. Combine with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional)
  3. Heat 2 cups of heavy cream on medium heat while stirring. Remove from heat before the cream reaches a boiling point.
  4. Add a small pour of the heated heavy cream in with the egg yolks and whisk together. Then, add another pour of the heated heavy cream and whisk together. Add the cream bit by bit until the entire cream and egg mixture is combined.
  5. Fill a 9×13 baking pan with approximately 1 inch of water.
  6. Pour the cream and egg mixture into a second, separate baking dish. A pie pan or glass baking dish will work–just ensure that the dish fits into the 9×13 pan and that water doesn’t spill over into dish.
  7. Place the baking dish with the mixture into the 9×13 pan filled with water. Then place both into the oven.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes at 325 degrees. You can check the mixture at half an hour of baking–I like mine jiggly on top but not soupy. Bake longer for a firmer outcome.
  9. Remove from the oven. Place the baking dish in the refrigerator to chill for an hour.
  10. After chilling, broil the dish on the top rack for 2 minutes or until the top is browned to your liking.
